Monday

Brrrrr.....its cold.

I guess you could say I am a trooper or just lucky I'm not sick. Quantum Nucleotides saved me. My weekend in Maine was well worth the cold and one I'll never forget. Friday night as we pulled into the campsite we were told it was to get around 20 degrees over night. And boy, did it ever. The scenery was unbelievable and I'm disappointed to say I didn't take many photos. A few highlights were: seeing my first moose, paddling through a 40 foot wave, and seeing trees as far as your eye can go. I hope I get to experience it all again, but this time with the ones I love. As for what is new in Durham, there isn't much to put on the table. A week full of exams and work, I can already say I am looking forward to a relaxing weekend in Concord. The hunt begins soon for my Halloween costume. Salem awaits The Birds at the end of the month. Have a good week, y'all. (the first photo is of our group over the weekend, posed in front of the Windfall sign. second photo is of the one shot I captured.) Love, Jo

Friday

Look now

As I anxiously await 5:30, I figured I'd post something short and sweet. Mainly so I could put up pictures of.....Fallll! On my quick trip to Concord yesterday, I just had to stop along the way a capture some of the wonderful colors. I hope you enjoy! I am about to depart to Maine and am very excited. White water rafting on the Kennebuc River for me tomorrow! It is going to be very cold, I've been told. I am prepared with the right wear, but I don't know how I will handle it. My adrenaline will get me by, I suppose. We are camping on the site, and are assigned to be there at 8:00am. Wish me luck on this epic journey of mine. Who knows where it will take me. Fighting off a bear at night, swimming furiously to the raft, or as Mom put it, lost in the woods. I'll report back soon after the trip. Have a good weekend all. Love, JO

Wednesday

Breaking New Grounds

'Breaking New Grounds,' is the coffee shop I have visited many times recently. I have found a latte that can take place of my usual tahitian vanilla for now. My week is flying by me, without any time to look back. I hope you all enjoy the new improvements to my blog; I enjoyed editing it. With my trip to Maine coming up this weekend, getting everything done before hand has been complicated. It'll all work out though. I leave Friday with 10 other N.H. Outing Club members to the Kennebuc River in northern Maine. We will camp out Friday night, then raft all day on Saturday, and make it back to Durham on Sunday. Oh, what an adventure it will be. I'll try and snap some shots. Here are a couple photos I took on campus today. (The Little Red Stony Wagon and one of the few trees that has changed.) It was cloudy, but had a nice feel to it. Love, JO ps-I miss everyone.

Monday

''Come go away with me...'' da da da da....

Oh, what a tackle this week will be. It's been a long one already, but I'm going to make it. I had a wonderful weekend, but am now overwhelmed with all the work I must catch up on. Exams coming up, and I need to hit the library soon. Savannah and I sure did have a good night in Boston/Cambridge. With the atmosphere of the Middle East venue, M.I.T. students, and the joy of small fun bands, I could not have asked more. I envy the style of the Boston residents. Other than the beautiful music The Walkmen put off, admiring everyone around me was a big part of the night. It is too bad that most back in Southern Illinois don't present themselves with style. I give it all I can and I feel my wear improves everyday. Wish me luck throughout the week. I'll be going full blast, I can feel it. (Photos are of The Walkmen. The next one is of us in a cool walk way.) Enjoy your week. LoVe, JO

Wednesday

Nourishing

Happy Hump Day, as some would say. I was out and about by 8 this morning and I would have to say, it's nice to get a long list accomplished. After not so much rest last night (much frustration), I am rather worn out. Architecture got out early tonight and I left pleased. I presented my composition project, which I will post a photo of. I say 'photo' in regards to Mr. VanZandt at Mt. Vernon High. :) Classes are starting to pick up; with tests coming up soon, there is some studying to be done. Granny B requested I study, study, study...so study I must. I am very much looking forward to the weekend. At last some exciting events are thrown my way. Friday afternoon will consist of me taking myself to Portsmouth to roam the brick streets and then possibly attend a party with Savannah. Saturday I'll catch up on homework and wait for the evening to arrive. When it does, Savannah and I will make our way over to Boston to see a band called, The Walkmen. Yayyy! :) Sweet photos are coming your way, so stay posted. I'll be back sooner than later. Enjoy your weekend! (Photos are of my new Wall of Fame and my composition piece for architecture.) love JO

Tuesday

Be proud.

Today was a great day. Two of my classes were cut short, allowing me to go outside and enjoy the sunshine. I got my first letter today from back home, I guess you could say that's why I am oh-so happy. After going to the gym to attend a, 'strength class,' (whatever that means), I was motivated to do whatever came my way. Main Street (or more like the middle of campus) was celebrating U*Day. With crowds of students, live music, food, and more, you would have thought there was a festival at UNH. The soul purpose was to spread the word about the organizations here at UNH. It opened my eye up to a lot and I am now looking forward to joining a few. One in particular is the UNH Organic Garden Club. I will partake in helping with the Garden in any way I can, at any time throughout the week, and met tons of great people. Until next time, take it easy. (Today's photo is of a hot air balloon that I saw at Bonnaroo. It was during the Wilco show on Saturday, I believe.) love JO

Sunday

Just me in my little cancer shell...

It's a Sunday night and nothing is better than reading up on the Sydney Opera House with some Skittles. I choose that piece of art for my Architecture paper and am looking forward to writing it. My weekend was very relaxing and I have no complaints. I worked on Dans notebook and I created drawings to hang in my room. Today I attended Drews hockey game and then headed back here to Durham. It was a nice, peaceful weekend. I am really looking forward to Boston this weekend and am hoping I will enjoy the Walkmen (I don't have too many doubts). This week should be a normal week, consisting of: class, homework, the gym, and the joys of the East Coast. I was asked today if I missed home, my family, and Dan. I thought my response nailed it: I miss them, a ton, but not to the point where I would want to go back home. I'm only here for now; I'm going to make the most of it and do all I can do. And that sums it all up. (Photos are of the creations I made this weekend. The top one is a Phish fish that will hang on my wall soon. The botton photo is a page out of Dans notebook.) love JO ps- I can't WAIT to see my Mom and Bryan on Thanksgiving!! Of course, you too Lottie. :)
